点评：Not one to usually visit châteaux, but Château d’Estresses is certainly worth making an exception for.
Our guide, Maurice, was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the château and the surrounding area. He brought its history to life, while also giving us fascinating insights into the Dordogne Valley, the trees, landscape and the wider history of the area.
What made the visit particularly enjoyable was the personal knowledge and enthusiasm Maurice brought to the tour — it felt much more like being shown around by someone who genuinely loves the place than simply following a standard guided tour. The two hours passed very quickly and great value at €6.50 per adult.
A really interesting and enjoyable visit, and one I would happily recommend to anyone exploring this part of the Dordogne.
The plans of the owner of the past 3 years to bring the castle to life through a cooperative etc. are fascinating and are hopefully successful.
