点评:We did not enjoy any aspect of our visit to this village.
To start with, they charge 100,000 Rp per person for entry (the other 5 villages we visited charged around 50,000 Rp per COUPLE - had we known this beforehand we would have skipped Todo). Before commencing the tour we were required to don a sarong, a sash and a headpiece; I understand the need to show respect and not be dressed sloppily when visiting sacred sites, however a sarong would have been enough - we looked ridiculous. Our guide then informed us (on more than one occasion) that we "must" make an additional donation upon entry to the ceremonial house, out of respect to the ancestors, and to receive their blessing for us to take photos. The thing was... we were not interested in photos. Whoever is in charge at Todo appears to misread Flores tourists, and assume all we are interested in is taking photos for Instagram. We are not.
My partner was then awkwardly coerced into taking a photo with another random tourist, each made to pretend they were engaged in a caci duel. Apparently we also wanted to photograph this (we didn't).
To round out the experience there is also a heap of hawkers waiting for you to buy a sarong.
Given there are at least five other villages to visit between Ruteng and Bajawa I would give this one a miss. The others are much more authentic, and give the real sense that people actually live there.
