点评:Spend a fun day climbing up to the Citadel of Corte, now the Museum of Corsica. Great views of the city, valley and the beautiful surrounding mountains. We enjoyed a free art exposition and walked back to the hotel in the rain. The city is right in the center of Corsica and is famous for the failed revolution to become independent. The setting couldn’t be more spectacular. Of the six citadels built in Corsica, this is the only one that exists inland. Its construction began in the Middle Ages. The castle was first built in 1419. The defeat of the Nationals in 1769 marked the end of the independent Corsican Nation. France then undertook the construction of the citadel itself and the barracks. With two objectives: to make Corte the ultimate retreat in the event of an enemy attack and to make the city a stronghold that can receive a garrison capable of preventing any insurrection!
