My visit to the excellent Anten Gräfsnäs Järnväg.

点评：The Anten Gräfsnas Järnväg is a fine 891 mm gauge museum steam railway which strives to recreate an atmosphere of how the railway was in the 1950's & 60's. I visited the A-GJ on the 13th August, 2022, my third visit to this railway. Many of the members of this railway remembered me from my previous visits and made me very welcome.
I was pleased to see that steam was in operation on the day of my visit. On my previous visit in 2018 only diesels were in operation as the tinder dry conditions made it too high a fire risk to operate steam.
The train made a stop at Kvarnabo were people could alight while the locomotive's water supply was replenished. At Gräfsnäs the locomotive was sent to be turned on the turntable in preparation for the return run.
When in Gräfsnäs I recommend that one takes the time to explore the forest trails as well as check out the shore of Lake Anten. Also the nearby castle ruins and the Lindelöv Slottscafe were one can stop for a meal and drinks.
Not far from Gräfsnäs station there's a parking area where on some weekends car and motorcycle clubs hold gatherings.
Back in Anten check out the museum shed were locomotives, railcars, rolling stock together with other artifacts can be seen.
In 2025 the A-GJ hope to have the section from Anten through the tunnel to Brobacka beside Lake Älandasjön reopened for traffic. This is a work in progress with the track relaying in the tunnel completed. A must see if one is interested in steam and the narrow gauge scene.
