点评:My wife and I took our SUV there in early June, on a weekday. The road thither is excellent except for the final twenty kilometres or so, after a village called Svapushche (don't try no pronounce it, just look at the map). That section of the route is cross-country, somewhat flattened by a motor grader but still hiding plenty of formidable rocks and treacherous potholes to avoid. So, keep your eye on the ball!
We did, so it was a pleasant trip. A fantastic bonus was the fact that both the expansive parking lot and the lovely surroundings were practically empty. No jostling tourists! As a result, we had a great time strolling around and admiring the tranquility of the area.
The place is sort of sacrosanct for us Russians, less so for foreigners, sure thing. Even yet, that lengthy journey (260 km from Tver' and 440 km from Moscow) is well worth it. In the event that you want to depart from the Russian capital, spend a night in Tver' (it's a nice city, by the way). And please, stay away from weekends and holidays!
Best time to go there is from May until late September.
