Spectacular scenery!

点评：My husband and I went here for our 25th anniversary and we had a wonderful time! The only reason I gave the "town" 4 stars and not 5 is because there isn't much to do, unless you hike, bike or paddle (we do all three, but this trip was only hiking. The restaurant scene leaves a bit to be desired. Two places we ate - the 1st, for dinner Friday; the 2nd, for lunch on Saturday* - were good, but neither lived up to the hype of their reviews. (*Mama's Japanese Kitchen and Aquí Es México.) Our anniversary dinner was excellent though, at The Lagoon Restaurant at The Painted Boat Resort.
It is an absolutely beautiful area! We live in the greater Vancouver area and I am in North Vancouver a lot riding (MTB) and hiking - and I loved in Jasper, and he, in Whistler, so our bar is set very high. If you are outdoorsy or just want to retreat in a natural setting, this place is perfect! We hiked Mt. Daniel Saturday morning: highly recommended! The view from the (true) summit is spectacular! After lunch, we drove up to the Skookumchuck Narrows at low tide and hiked to the viewpoint, to see the whirlpools - also awesome! (And a MUCH easier hike.) PSA: if you are a cinnamon bun connoisseur, don't bother stopping at the "famous" bakery near the trailhead. They were 'meh' and only a tiny drizzle of icing.
We stayed at Moon Dance Cabin, on Oyster Bay and it was as perfect as one could expect. It was really cool to witness the tidal flats filled by the ocean and receed again and again.
We will definitely return, but next time, for more than a weekend and we will cook our own food.
Oh, and on the way back to the ferry on Sunday, we also hiked the Smuggler's Cove Loop. Definitely do that if you can! Gorgeous!
