Mt. Cammerer a beautiful hike, not nearly as busy as Mt. LeConte

点评：I went via the Low Gap trail from the Cosby Campground. I saw only one person while I was climbing, until I got to the AT, which was busy. Lots of trillium, painted trillium, and other beautiful wildflowers. There were a couple of stream crossings, which the only one which was a little dicey was the first one, but there are rocks you can hop on. You can get a bit of glimpse of beautiful views on the way up. It is pretty steep until you get around the AT, then it levels out a good bit along the ridge until the final half mile to the tower, where you have to cross some heavy mud and do a little easy scrambling to get to the tower. It is very rocky and rooty for the most part. Had to concentrate on my footing. Be aware that the weather can change quickly. It started partly cloudy, but by the time I got to the tower, I saw a few seconds of a partial view before a cloud descended, it got really windy, temperature dropped to very cold such that fingers were numb- I put on my fleece, which helped a lot. There is no bathroom in the tower. Going down is hard on the knees. Took me 3 hours to go up and 2.5 hours to go down. It is a beautiful hike, just wish I had been rewarded with a good view at the top!
