点评:Gopi talaav (or talab in Hindi) is a small pond located near Dwarka and very close to Nageshwar Jyotirlinga temple on the way to BET Dwarka.
The pond is associated with Gopikas of erstwhile Dwarka kingdom of Lord Krishna.
It is believed that the Lord Krishna’s Gopikas took Jal-Samadhi in this pond.
It said that when Gopikas learnt about the end of that LORD KRISHNA’s Life they left their bodies in this world and went to Vishnu-Lok.
Their Bodies became mud and fell on ground in this pond and merged with the soil there.
Thus, the soil of this pond became soft & white and is called Gopika Chandan.
Devotees apply this Gopika Chandan on their forehead and body.
It is also believed that the Gopikas of Lord Krishna used to take bath in this pond.
Apart from this pond there are a number of smaller temples around this area, looked after by the families residing locally.
These temples are not that much familiar.
These temples include deities of Lord Siva, Lord Shreenath, Lord Ganesh, Rukmani Devi etc..
In one of the temples, you can see Lord Ram’s Floating stone also.
A visit to this pond is worth considering the mythological background attached to it.
