DAY OUT AT MERCIA MARINA WITH A FRIEND

点评：Wednesday 7th May 2025, My husband and I drove up Willington in Derbyshire to meet our friend Janet. We had decided to meet at Mercia Marina; this was our fifth visit here. The day was bright, warm and sunny, the sun shone and the boats on the marina looked wonderful with the sun shining on the water.
Both of us had arrived here early as we had wanted to look round the really nice boutique shops which are situated around the marina. Since our last visit quite a few of the shops have changed and some old favourites were not there anyone. Zing had closed down due to retirement and the Plant Shop too had closed.
We all met and then went to look round the shops. Jan visited a nice ‘shop called ‘By Design’ where she purchased a designer ring and some pearl earrings. We then went into a shop called ‘White Finn’, where Jan purchased a orange, white and blue designer ‘T’ shirt. We then went into ‘Be Well’ which is a really nice shop with nice things to buy Jan purchased a beautiful pink, white and blue long silken jacket, which looked really elegant on her. I did not purchase anything as none of the clothes were in my size.
We then strolled along the boardwalk and looked at the various shops and we went into ‘The Beetroot Café’, where were purchased ice creams made by the local Bluebell Company. Jan had a double chocolate cone, Mark had a blueberry cone and I had a millionaire’s shortbread cone.
We took these outside and sat on a bench and Jan had a deck chair and we sunbathed and chatted in the warm sun for a couple of hours and caught up on all our new and gossip.
We had a lovely visit to Mercia Marina.
