King Richard III Visitor Centre的点评
点评：I watched the ‘King in the Car Park’ documentary in 2013 and have been fascinated with the story of Richard III ever since; though this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to visit.
The museum itself is built on the site of the gruesome discovery; right in the centre of Leicester. We parked at the nearby Highcross Shopping Centre and walked across. Entry costs £12.50 for adults and £6.25 for children (age 5-15). There is no need to book ahead and you get an annual pass included in the price. It is not the biggest museum in the world but allow at least 90min for your visit.
The museum of course tells the story of Richard III: where he fits in British history (think timelines & family trees!); his reign; his death; his legacy and of course the search for his remains. Perfect for anyone interested in history, archeology, science or media.
Exhibits include lots of written information but also modern, interactive displays and there are plenty of experts at hand to offer more information / answer your questions. Some of the information is a little repetitive but that just ensures you remember the key details (e.g. where are his feet?).
The route round is pretty much ‘one way’ so you can’t miss anything (nevertheless, you get a free map from reception). I didn’t buy anything from the cafe but there were plenty of places to sit and food was reasonably priced (if slightly limited in choice). As is typical with these places, you exit through the gift shop; this featured a range of souvenirs at varying prices.
Having said all that, the main reason you’d come here is to visit the dig site. The last room in the museum features a heavy-duty glass floor, enabling you to look down at the exact spot his bones were discovered. Following this, a visit to the nearby cathedral is a must in order to see his tomb (following his official ‘funeral’ in 2015). Entry to this site is free with a suggested donation of £5.
All in all, I am glad I visited. This is a remarkable story that deserves to be heard. Well done to Philippa Langley and the team for your dedication and drive to establish the truth.

话虽如此，人们来此的主要目的还是参观考古发掘现场。博物馆的最后一个展厅设有厚实的玻璃地板，游客可以俯瞰到当年发现他遗骨的准确位置。之后，一定要去附近的教堂瞻仰他的墓穴（该墓穴是在2015年举行正式“葬礼”后修建的）。进入该景点无需付费，建议捐赠5英镑。
