Lots of information to read but not many artefacts
Heritage Centre, Ledbury的点评
点评:This is a lovely black and white timber building thought to date back to around 1500. It is thought it was built by a wool merchant and a stream ran under the building which was probably used for washing the wool fleeces. This can be seen through a glass panel in the floor. It became the Grammar School, but this closed in 1830 with dwindling numbers. It was turned into tenements.
The building has been lovingly restored as a museum covering the development of the town, history of the school etc. A section of the wattle and daub construction has been left exposed.
It wasn't quite what I'd expected - there were a lot of information panels but few artefacts. The upstairs room is interesting with its old beams.
Staff are welcoming and very knowledgeable.
It is free and worth a visit and to spend time reading the information available.
