点评:We visited Mayflower Beach so we could check out the Brewster Flats. The Flats encompass several beaches along the northern side of Cape Cod. We visited something like this in Ireland, but had never experienced it in the United States. Did not even know it existed until we accidentally found this spot. Ocean/Beach Flats are amazing. The land under the water is incredibly shallow at high tide, so when it's low tide, the water completely disappears and huge swaths of ocean bed are exposed and are walkable for a few hours. It is remarkable.
The main attraction of the Brewster Flats/Mayflower Beach at low tide is the tide pools that develop when the water recedes. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to see any great tide pools, but walking for hundreds of yards out where the ocean will soon be again is an amazing experience. Surprisingly, there were really no seashells to speak of and since my wife is a sheller, she was disappointed.
I don't know how the beach would be at high tide. It looked like there was plenty of sandy beach. We visited a couple of the Brewster Flats beaches and found about the same thing as at Mayflower Beach. It is worth a visit if you enjoy tidepools and mucky sandy mud where the ocean should be. LOL
