点评:Our two days with Sean Claxton were among the best travel experiences my daughter and I have ever had. And I am nearly 70. He was informative, thorough, funny, down to earth-- and most of all a wonderful story teller telling one of the most fascinating stories anyone could have the privilege to tell. We had a day on Utah and the Peninsula hearing amazing paratrooper stories, then a day on Omaha, Pointe D'Hoc and the bluffs above culminating at the American Cemetery. My daughter and I were both constantly surprised, though each of us have read many of the histories, seen Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers-- Sean is the real thing telling the real account. But more than surprise, we were also constantly both awed and at times dumbfounded at what those men-- boys, mostly-- did on that one day. And what price they paid, not just that day but in the weeks and months to come. Sean beings all that to life-- from Eisenhower and Bradley to the simplest private--in a way that can only be described as compelling from a humanity standpoint. He never let us forget that these were real people with real families and real buddies-- some whose war ended in seconds, others who went on to great fame if not fortune. And that there were French and indeed Germans caught up in those events whose stories were also worth hearing about. He is a vivid and grounded story teller. And a great guy. I can't recommend him highly enough.
