A very enjoyable tasting experience

点评：Finally got the chance to do a tasting at my long time favourite port house. I was lucky enough to get a table in the window and it provided a very pleasant way to escape the bad weather.
The ports were excellent (including the 50 year old white port which I didn’t expect to be able to try). The staff were excellent - very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to recommend additional ports to taste. There’s no pressure to vacate the tables making it a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
One thing to note though, the standard bag is a paper bag. I wasn’t offered the cloth one to buy and unfortunately when I got back to the hotel the bag had got wet and the bottom collapsed meaning one of the bottles broke. Thankfully it was one of the cheaper bottles (the more expensive one was in a box). When I went back the next day to buy a replacement bottle, the staff member tried to say she had offered me a cloth bag, which she didn’t. A minor niggle but if you are buying more than a single bottle it’s probably best to skip the paper bag which is a bit flimsy when wet.
