Beach sanitary pad & diesel fumes - Nice - NOT!

点评：It’s a volcanic sandy beach so it’s not your pretty golden sandy beach. The colour wasn’t the issue, the cleanliness however was! I could not believe how many cigarette butts there were it was awful. The icing on the cake though, a sanitary pad! Yes indeed.
A further nail in the coffin in there is a huge what I believe to be a power station which is omitting huge plumes of diesel exhaust fumes. We drove past few times and they have huge diesel generators. The wind was clearly not favourable the day we went to the beach and the fumes were all in the beaches direction. I am assuming the power is something to do with the airport which is literally abutting the power station.
The aircraft are not constant and don’t pose much of an issue. Maybe it’s because it’s slightly out of season. But that power station is. The noise they make is constant and the fumes persistent. Aside from environmentally being dreadful, it’s a shame for the businesses along that stretch of road opposite the beach. We were staying in a nice hotel staff lovely, but sadly the fumes wafted over the pool one afternoon.
If you come to Santorini I would avoid this beach. Aside from this there are other places that are really nice.
