点评:Meh... Don't get me wrong, the Waimoku Falls is spectacular. But you really can't get that close to it. I agree with a previous reviewer that after a 1.8 mi moderately strenuous hike to a waterfall, you expect to get to the base of it. But a big sign at the end of the trail blocks you and commands you to not pass and there is a $100 penalty if you do. You have to look over some vegetation and trees to see the falls. I get it, flash floods & fatalities. Just disappointed and not what I was hoping for. Your experience with waterfalls is better found elsewhere on the Road to Hana.
The Pipiwai Trail leading to the falls is great, though. It's a 3.6 mi (total distance) there-and-back trail that leads you past an amazing banyan tree and through a cool bamboo forest. You cross over a few cool bridges over gushing waters. Trail for us was fairly muddy and slippery, so I recommend appropriate footwear. Near the end, you do have to cross a shallow stream with large boulders around that you'll have to either get your feet wet or scramble over slippery rocks. Again, solid trail.
Of note, this trail and waterfall is inside the Haleakalā National Park and you'll have to pay $30/vehicle or bring your America the Beautiful NP Pass.
