Excellent, Calm, Inspiring Instruction

点评：I boarded a 7 day miles builder from Aegina to Samos and added a 7 day Dayskipper Plus/Coastal skipper around the Dodecanese because my Day Skipper week with another company was not satisfactory. I was completely satisfied in all aspects of the company's offering. Great boats, but best of all great skippers! They love to share with you what they love aout sailing, about Greece: a tiny island with a particularly tasty taverna, another island with a spectacular monastery with a spectacular sunset view, a crystalline cove empty of any other boats but a few from the schools flotilla where we tied all together and swam...) The instruction I received was pointed and lucid. It is a pedagogy designed to render sailors autonomous, independent of the school! Though the miles builder is not a training course, the skipper was generous in sharing his knowledge and experience in answer to questions all the way across, and evenly appointing tasks to crew so that the women aboard were in every way incorporated and the men did not take over. The Day skipper Plus course definitely took my skills, and my confidence, up to another level. The skipper was calm and playful and never, ever barked when mistakes were made. Instead, he calmly asked questions. (My favorite, as we drifted toward the rocks: "Are you in full control of the boat right now?") prompting us to independently analyze a situation and remedy any impending problems. And at the end of the course, he asked "what is your next step?" encouraging me to think about what would serve me best to advance my skills. A really excellent and uplifting two weeks.
