Great, but wouldn’t pay that rate again.

点评：Background. Play once a week. 4.7HI. Author of Playing Sideways (a golf book :)). Lots of time around the game and have played a lot in UK as well as the states.
This is a 5 star experience at a 3 star price point. But that’s golf around the world right now. Stupid expensive,right? All I can hope for is to keep telling golf courses they are charging too much but I just paid it didn’t !!??? It is what is until we hit another recession I guess. Lol.
But I almost cancelled when I read the posts around course conditions. Glad I didn’t because the course is in great shape. The people were great. I loved it. I just won’t play it again at $180+70 rental+13% tax .
Layout- Amazing. Starting with a 587, uphill, into the wind, narrow, jungle-lined, dogleg, par 5 it was as good an opening hole as I’ve ever played. After that just a fun, romp of a course with short doglegs, downhill par 3’s drivable par 4s etc. great condition and great green complexes with well protected blind shots in some areas.
Bunkers- Interesting. Great mounds surrounding them but were completely flat inside. Still, decent shape.
Greens. Great shape and happy to have them rolling at an 8-9. No bad spots. Predictable and Grainy. Zoysia I believe?
Staff- Great! Very nice professional.
Unique! With the wildlife around I really enjoyed it. Saw a sloth and some macaws. Really great finishing holes by the ocean but 18 is such a drag finish as dead straight with no real features. They could really bring it home but missed the mark with all these cool water features behind it!
Oh well. We finished with a cool minty towel and smile. I also met a super cool local and invited me back out to play again. Hope I come back but I won’t pay that price again.
