点评:I visited Agio Galas with my family. It is a very special place run by an earnest, hard-working, and sweet family. Anastasia runs the kitchen — and makes a feast in a kitchen with the square footage of a small utility truck. She made homemade pasta, traditional goat and rooster, French fries, Greek salad, and an on-the-house orange cake for desert. It’s just Anastasia doing the cooking, and it was probably my favorite meal during my entire stay in Greece. The cave was excellent, too. Anastasia’s son, Niko, gave my family a tour, and told us about the Neolithic origins of the dwellers and how they made jewelry even as they spent their days fighting leopards and other large and fierce creatures. Anastasia’s other son, Andonis, waits the tables in the outdoor restaurant, and is very diligent and charming, too. The outdoor space is populated with little spaces for family activities — board games, a climbing wall, a playpen — so that kids can play while adults enjoy Anastasia’s fine cooking. The tree shade gives the restaurant a bucolic feeling. Overall, just a wonderful experience run by a superb family — there are hard workers, and then there’s Anastasia and her boys, and the results of their excellent work speak for themselves.
