Devils River State Natural Area的点评
点评：First off - thank you Ranger Brian for an informative introduction to the DRSNA. I would recommend that everyone visiting here spend some time with this Ranger before heading out. He knows the area, and can save you some time and energy when heading for the river from the parking area. One of the best I have had the pleasure of visiting with over the years in the Texas State Parks system!
First, this is a no frills area. It is not the easiest to get to and others have already described the roads. I personally did not find them that rough, but I would not recommend traveling without good tires. If you have a tire problem, you need to know how to change a tire. There is no calling AAA, or anyone else for that matter.
Campsite 5 was mine, and it was great. Very peaceful, about 100 yds off the road, and scenic. Everything here either bites or stings from bushes to bugs to cactus. I did not notice any grass burrs for those of you with dogs, but plenty of thorns and cactus if your four legged companion is a city dog. The night sky is incredible.
We pulled kayaks from the parking lot to the river, just under a mile up and down hills. It was tough going in, even worse coming back out. Temp after my truck was moving at 109. Take a lot of water, both for drinking, and wetting your clothing down for evap cooling if you go when it is hot. The river is just like the pics show. An oasis in the desert.
As of this review date, a new parking area is being developed which will be much closer to the river when completed. Still, it won't be a walk in the park. Hope this review is helpful to others - this is not a place to visit if you expect any cell service, trash bins, or manicured trails.......but that weeds out the folks that probably should not be there anyway.
