A fantastic, hidden gem for railway enthusiasts, and families on event days

点评：Pre attendance: Website, Social media and directions Basic but informative
Experience: We had a wonderful visit to the Yeovil Railway Centre! It is important to know before you go that this is a dedicated preservation and restoration centre rather than a long heritage line, but it offers a fantastic, up-close experience that you simply don't get at larger stations.
Parking: Arriving was stress-free as there is a free gravel car park on-site with enough space for about 20 to 30 cars.
The Train & Track: It is a short but interesting line, and the carriage used gives great views of the site as you travel along. We also loved the short miniature railway ride, which was incredibly pleasant.
Fascinating Exhibits: The workshops are absolutely interesting and give you a real behind-the-scenes look at the restoration work. They also have an interesting model railway and a small but nicely done museum packed with history.
The Turntable: A real highlight of the visit was the excellent demonstration of the historic turntable in action—it was brilliant to watch.
The Café: We stopped by the café and were very impressed. The food was hot and tasty, and everything was reasonably priced.
The volunteers are clearly passionate and happy to chat. If you appreciate the engineering, history, and preservation side of railways, this centre is an absolute must-visit!
