Beautiful, good for the whole family, and uncrowded by American (or Italian) standards

点评：We loved this beach. It was the closest to Waikiki we have seen away from Waikiki--long stretch of sand, nice waves, beautiful, clear water. But it didn't have the crowds of Hawaii even in the heat of tourist season. There is a beach club with tiki type umbrellas that is wonderful and has padded lounge chairs as well as a bar and restaurant.
Some people mention the people hawking things (everything from sunglasses to floaties to beach dresses), and that is true. But that is also true of every Italian beach I've been to. Some people might also mention seaweed--and it is true that if the wind is from Africa some of that can float in. But what is also true is that you will have a hard time finding a more beautiful beach with water as clear and inviting as that at Samana. And, the waves are light enough for kids to go in and you can walk out really, really far. It's not crowded at all.
