点评：Downtown Baraboo, Wisconsin, once known as "Circus City" when it was the winter home to Ringling Brothers circus from 1884 to 1927, has become the poster boy for small-town charm and a destination for out-of-towners looking for a Galena-like atmosphere. Located 40 miles north of Madison and seven miles south of Wisconsin Dells, near Devil's Lake State Park, on the banks of the Baraboo River, with a population of nearly 13,000, Baraboo is home to over 40 locally owned restaurants, bars and shops that surround the town's Square. It also is home to the Al Ringling Theatre, often described as "America's Prettiest Playhouse," and is host to recreational activities for all seasons--skiing, rock climbing, fishing, hunting and swimming. It also is home to the 1.6-billion-year-old Ice Age Trail, an 8.1-mile out-and-back pathway for walking and hiking. When the circus left for the warmer climate of Sarasota, Florida, in 1927, Baraboo residents began looking for other ways to attract tourists. They succeeded by reinventing the town's image. Today, visitors browse and buy in such businesses as Angels & Arrows Boutique, Village Booksmith, McGann Furniture, The Jewelers Edge, Baraboo Music, Country Sass Gifts, Absolute Imports, Amber Moon Floral & Gifts, Just Imagine Toys, Cornerstone Gallery and A Sense Of Adventure. They can take a lunch or snack break at Baraboo Candy Company, Baraboo Popcorn Company, Edwards Ice Cream, Baraboo Burger Company, Square Tavern and Little Village Cafe.
