Together with my guide Porfilio Correa López we ate with a family just above the bridge on the old road. The grandfather of this family is a good cook. The poverty, but also passivity of the family impressed me. I gave them 100 dolares so that they could at least mend part of the roof. Later I heard that the adults had divided the money among themselves for personal wishes and were unhappy with me because they had hoped for more money. They have TV and tattoos, but no roof and no toilet.
Unfortunately, I realized much later that my guide Porfilio Correa Lopez only wanted one thing from me: to make as much profit as possible. He is a very intelligent liar and actor. He also works as a scientist in Humboldt National Park. You should definitely watch out for this man!
