点评：Probably in the winter the tower cannot be visited, since we found it barred.
However, observing it from the outside is also interesting. First of all for its size: it isn't common to find an isolated medieval tower 30 meters high. The size is explained by the fact that the tower was an ideal observatory for defensive purposes for the powerful knights of the Jerusalem order, who controlled the town. Later it was used for the same purpose by the Municipality of Perugia.
A panel displayed at the entrance informs us that the tower then encountered a long period of decadence, until the careful restoration that took place twenty years ago. Not only was it used as a municipal dog kennel; but, since the surrounding area became the site of the local livestock market, the skins of the slaughtered animals were hung out to dry here.
