点评:Every time we visit our friends in the UK they have something special on the agenda for us to do and this time we were about to have a meet and greet with the lovely Alpacas.
It was a nice, warm, sunny day in Cockermouth. Our guide, Lynn, was really nice and kind. Before we got to meet the Alpacas we got some short instructions of the Do's and more importantly the Don't of the interaction with the animals. Bear in mind, even thou the animals are domesticated and used to humans, they still are flight animals with an own will.
So we got to get in the gate with the Alpacas and the fun started. Cautiously you get swarmed by them, all of a sudden you are immersed in a herd of these cute wooly fluff balls. As you feed them, your guide provides interesting facts about the Alpacas, of which most we have not known. And if you have additional questions, they will be answered to best knowledge.
After the Alpacas are fed you get to take your pictures and linger and chill with them.
For those who might be doubtful or afraid of meeting them, Alpacas are literally like cats, excited when fed but are not overly crazy about you. Due to their physique, they cannot bite you and as they don't have hooves such as a horse, a kick would be noticable, but cause no severe injury. Also, the infamous spitting is interaction between Alpacas only. If you in the line of fire, it's more of a powerful exhale...
This activity is also doable for handicapped people using a wheelchair / or families with a trolley if there is no age restriction to the activity. As I am a wheelchair user myself, they even asked me how they can improve the accessibility of the location, which was really nice.
Kindly note that the organization is non profit and therefore relies on the entry fees and donations.
It is money and time more than well spent to meet these awesome creatures. Very fun, soothing, calming experience.
And the lived Alpacaly Ever After, hopefully.
