Shabby, rude staff and poor advertisement for events

点评：I haven’t been to anything in the Corran Halls for a while and it was pretty poor when we went last night. It’s been overdue an upgrade for about 20 years and it’s still as shabby as ever, but last night one of the staff members was rude, and there was also no sound for the first part of the show which was awkward and embarrassing.
We had tickets to Dom Joly and it said on the ticket that it was from 8-10, there was nothing on the ticket or email about arriving at half 7, but the guy on the door insisted it did. But when we arrived at 8 he said we were late and was condescending and weirdly aggressive about it. They’d also seemingly taken our seats away by 8.02pm, so we had to ask for seats instead of standing awkwardly at the back. We could have slipped in easily but they made a pointless drama about it.
The advertisement for gigs is non-existent as well, I haven’t seen any posters or anything about comedians or bands playing, which is probably why hardly anyone buys tickets unless there’s a hype on social media about it. I heard Toploader cancelled because of lack of ticket sales.
It’s embarrassing for Oban when we do actually want people to come and play here, but when the venue is as poor as it is (with zero advertisement for events) why should they bother.
