Don't Go Solo! Almost Made it but Turned Back!

点评：Almost made it. There's a review two before this one from August of 2023 by Titch-the-Witch who summed up exactly what happened to me. I set out with the best of intentions. Timed it perfectly. As another reviewer said, you don't want to set out at low tide. You want to set out after high tide as it's going out.
It took me about 25 minutes to get over to the island, as I dawdled and took pictures. There was another piece of good advice: stick to the Dhorlin and don't try to take shortcuts thinking you'll save time. You won't. You'll get wet feet and have to backtrack.
I took a cab from the Royal Hotel down to the setting off point, which as of this writing cost about 8 pounds and then I walked back to Campbeltown which took about 30 minutes. The hotel was the perfect place to stay in Campbeltown.
I too got stuck on the rocks and felt it better to abandon the mission. I think I was about 90 percent of the way there but decided because I was traveling solo it was better to turn back, rather than risk a slip and fall (especially with the possibility of an incoming tide!)
Travel with at least one another person. And get the timing right. Great adventure. Glad I did it, but never actually made it to the cave!
