On the morning of the fourth day, they replied and said they'll exchange the bike asap. They brought the bike at 11am - by then we had organized ourselves differently to not lose out on another day. Turns out you have to CALL them in an emergency, but how should I do that? No tourist here has any mobile plan that includes calls?!
Anyways, I didn't want to be unfair, and just requested a refund for the two days where I could not use my bike. "We don't do refunds". Nothing more, nothing less. Just a statement that they don't do refunds, regardless of the circumstances. Like what?
In summary, we paid for a bike which broke down, and despite additional insurance offered by Ride Rarotonga, we were not able to use the bike for two days AND did not get any reimbursement for neither the broken bike nor the not honored insurance. This is scammy.
