The Art of Racing in the Rain!

点评：My wife & I are life-long Corvette fans. I bought a 1967 427 coupe at age 19, went to a drag racing event sponsored by a Corvette club from an adjacent state and became hooked on going fast. We formed Corvettes of Berkshire that year and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow Corvette enthusiasts.
Planning our summer road trip from AZ to MA and back, we included another stop at the NCM. I learned that the NCM Motorsports Park offered many packages to the public that would allow them to drive one of their cars on the race track. I chose the C8 Touring laps (around $320), 4 laps following an instructor around this magnificent layout. There was only one other couple scheduled to drive the following day, so we had the staff's entire attention. When we arrived on the day of our scheduled event, there was light rain falling. I feared the event would be cancelled (who would drive a performance car in the rain?). The event staff made a track inspection, showed me a video of the track layout, introduced me to the Rapid Blue C8 and minutes later, I was following Tabb Stansbury, my instructor extraordinaire, around the track. My first lap was my favorite, but the increasing rain during subsequent laps reduced visibility.
Tabb allowed me to set the pace to go as fast as my skill would allow, and I was fast. This is one of those Bucket List items that I was able checked off. And we got all this done in a few hours! Many thanks to the NCM Motorsports Park staff and especially Tabb. You guys are awesome!
My new Bucket List item is buying a new Corvette with the optional museum delivery and then visiting Tabb . . . again!

我的新愿望清单是买一辆新的科尔维特，选配博物馆接送服务，然后再去 Tabb……
