Lancaut Nature Reserve的点评
点评：This is a great circular walk/scramble by the River Wye starting at the Llancaut nature reserve car park, signposted on a sharp bend on the B4228 north of Chepstow. Walk down the hill, to the west, from the car park through a wooded footpath and follow the signs to StJames church. The church has no roof, but the interior can be viewed. Head down from the church and you pick up the footpath just above the river. You can follow the path by the river, passing lime kilns and then enter the woods. After about a mile you will reach a section where large rocks cover the valley side, follow the path and there are paint markings on some of the stones to show you the way, before resuming on a slow upwards gradient below the cliffs. If you miss the turn in the woods, you will end up high and reach the disused quarry, which has no exit. Eventually you reach the B4228 and follow the Offas Way footpath signs, which takes you off the b road and goes behind houses along the cliff top to Wintours Leap viewpoint with brilliant views of the river. To finish the leap you walk northwards by the road back to the car park. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen on both banks and likely see people climbing the sheer limestone cliffs. Definitely walking boot territory, there are no facilities there, takes 1-2 hours to walk, but well worth the effort!
