Falls of Lora的点评
点评：In the village of Connel on the road to Oban you will come across the Falls of Lora is at the seaward end of Loch Etive.
The falls are occur due to the changes in tidal levels between Loch Etive and the Firth of Lorn, a natural phenomenon generated by the differential erosion of the glacial valley which narrows at this point and has resulted in this unique tidal feature.
We were lucky to see them as the tide went out as they are not always visible due to the tidal fluctuations. On the Ebb tide, the seawater in Loch Etive pours out through the narrows which are themselves spanned by the spectacular and historic Connel Bridge. The currents and waves produced by the flood tide are also well worth seeing and photographing.
The Connel Bridge forms a great backdrop to the falls along with the mountains in the background.
There is a car park in the village just off the road which gives you very good views of the falls.
We discovered later that there is now a website established to enable anyone who wants to see the Falls of Lora when the tide gives the best experience of the tidal phenomenon.
It was well worth the 30 minute stop on our way to Oban.
