点评：My 8 year old daughter has a condition called coeliac disease (celiac)
This is an autoimmune condition which means if she eats gluten her immune system starts attacking her lower intestine, which can cause all sorts of problems, some of which can be very serious.
Since her diagnosis trying to have normal days out have been increasingly difficult, as being coeliac means her tolerance to gluten is basically zero. To the point where if she handles a normal slice of bread then licks her fingers afterwards its enough to set off an immune response and make her very poorly.
Through lack of awareness (nobody's fault), on a normal trip out when we ask for gluten free options people assume we are asking because it is a dietary choice and more often than not there are very very few options my daughter can have, and more often than that her not actually being able to eat these items due to cross contamination with other foods.
This all leads to my daughter getting quite upset and feeling very singled out, which is very upsetting as a parent because she never asked for this condition and just wants to be like her friends.
We visited astrabound for her friend's birthday party, we phoned in advance and asked if there we any gluten free options available. We were told there was actually a gluten free menu. So we bit the bullet and didn't bother taking our daughter her obligatory pack lunch.
I went to order her some food at dinner time and was absolutely blown away by the HUGE amount of options available to her! And they even had a separate fryer and food preparation area for coeliacs, so we didn't even need to worry about cross contamination!
It was absolutely wonderful to finally see her tucking into a meal with her friends like her condition didn't even exist!
Having something to eat at a soft play area my seem like a trivial issue for most families but for us this was a monumental win.
So I have to send out my sincere thanks to the staff and owners for making these options available for my daughter.
She had a fantastic time with her friends and a fully belly at the end of it. We couldn't ask for more!
Highly highly recommended for any coeliac families out there, for a fun and "normal" day out.
We will 100% be returning
