点评:This is a unique museum and cultural experience. We visited in March of 2023 while on a trip to research my family's roots. The museum houses artifacts and many vintage photographs and provides an informative video about plantation life. Friendly staff is available including Mr. Igura, who kindly assisted us. As noted in other reviews, Suo Oshima is the sister city of Kauai in Hawaii. The close relationship is evident in the displays and museum collection. A gift shop houses Hawaiian souvenirs and adds to the charm of the museum. Importantly, the museum has a library area and houses a data base where one can search their archives for information about relatives who came from the area and emigrated to Hawaii. Although I had completed quite a bit of research before my visit, the woman on staff who assisted me was able to uncover more details. We had a personal guide and translator from the area ( Tetsuo "TONY" Shinohara ) who assisted us in translating much of the information. My husband and I returned in October along with my two sisters and their husbands and visiting the museum was definitely on our "To Do List"! There is a minimal entrance fee. The museum also has a website.
