点评:It was a very sad experience to see that very old dark cages are still being used for the majority of animals.
A Bengal Tiger, magnificent in its natural habitat, was not only looking scrawny in appearance but was relentlessly walking a figure 8 route from one end of its cage to the back, across the front and around again. I watched for 5 minutes and walked away feeling depressed for this beautiful animal.
I will not detail the sorry sight of the listless monkeys and apes; the birds crowded together in cages without much provision to fly, and the areas around the cages that were not easy to traverse.
I realize that for many Bangladeshis this is an exciting place to see these wonderful animals in a real sense but, having visited world-class zoos in San Diego (USA), Singapore and Australia I spent as little time as possible in this place.
Let's hope that some now, open-plan spaces can be created for the iconic species so that they may exist in a habitat more like a natiral one
