Hardknott Pass的点评
点评：Satnav sent me this way from scafell pike to Ambleside so we stumbled across it by accident. Clearly I did not do my research at all! Coming from the West, I didn’t notice much warning about what was to come and once you’ve started you’re kind of stuck in it. I was driving a 1L eco 24 plate Ford focus and sadly the sheer gradient scraped up a lot of the front of the car. I consider myself a very confident driver but it was a real mental challenge. The single track for two cars made a few hairpins challenging, as the left front wheel hung over the edge whilst rocks were crumbling. After coming up and over the Hardknott pass, it became a little flatter but then looking into the distance you can see the Wrynose Pass. I lost the nerve at that point, so exited South along the River Duddon heading for Broughton in Furness. This is the only “escape route” and is still sketchy, but not to the same calibre. Sadly I could not appreciate the views at all, as surviving was a bit more important. I felt very trapped & claustrophobic within the valley. Certainly not for the faint hearted & not for a long bonnet either.
