点评：We visited Urgut Market on. Saturday. I was disappointed because I’d read that Sunday was best for suzani and vintage textiles. No need to worry. Go through the main entrance gate, fight your way through the crowd, straight down the main “alley” of traders until you reach the end. Suzani will be spread down an alley to your left. Take cash. Dollars preferred, but they have me straight up exchange for s’om, too. No one accepts cards. Don’t bother changing dollars at the gate. All the dealers I dealt with accepted dollars and s’om, and I paid a couple in both currencies.
If you buy something or indicate you are serious , be prepared to have people take you buy the hand or arm into their shops. I am astonished at the friendliness, and am almost embarrassed at the deals I got. I got six Suzani, including one that appears king-size and a couple others that are (American) twins, plus three that are a meter or so squared. I paid well under $250 total for all six. Vendors literally started throwing them at me and yelling $45! $35 discount! When I asked to buy two they came down a little more. I am just super disappointed our tour company only allowed an hour. It’s a ten minute walk to fight your way down to the textiles and ten back. I was so frenzied I didn’t have time to look, and there were temptatious vintage yurt hangings, needlepoint prayer rugs, and decor I would have loved to have gotten my paws on.
Also, if you like rhinestones, look for the shops on the left about halfway down and be prepared to be dazzled by the sparkling stock. Photos don’t even do it justice. It left me speechless.
