Distinctive Modern Landmark Or An Eyesore?
The Landmark Theatre的点评
点评：Depending on your point of view, the Landmark Theatre is either an eyesore that looks a lot like Madonna’s bra (remember her pointy phase) or it’s a distinctive, modern building that has helped put Ilfracombe on the map.
What you see here is basically a pair of large, grey, brick cones. I cant say I warmed to it. It could be a small nuclear power station.
I softened my view a little when I learnt that the design was supposed to recall the area's historical glass-making kilns.
We began our visit to Ilfracombe at the theatre. It was a good starting point to explore the town, mainly because it has a large public carpark (£1.60 per hour in the summer season). I'd also been expecting to find the Ilfracombe Visitor Centre here but it's no longer located inside the theatre. A very reduced version of it is now located at the Ilfracombe Museum instead.
