Chieftains Museum / Major Ridge Home的点评
点评：is just another example of this country's misguided treatment of the native American population. Racism, greed, and misunderstanding ruled and won.
The home itself is a beautiful example of early 19th c architecture then expanded and refinished to meet the needs/desires of later owners. One of the best things about touring the home is to see the history of the house (parts of the walls/ceilings/floors are removed to show) fr/ simple log cabin to 19th c plantation home to 20th c mansion.
The museum part is dedicated not only to the life of Major Ridge (& family) but also a look at the history of the native American population in the area and their trials and tribulations (including the "Trail of Tears") and then to the stories of the later owners of the home and changes made.
I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the home and grounds. Like so many things in Rome I would not make a special trip but if in the area or doing a "ToT" or native American tour then it is a must
