点评:Raudisandur is a remote beach in the Westfjords that is uniquely red and orange in colour. It is situated under the high cliffs and birdlife rich grasslands and accessible by way of a mountain pass Route 614 which zigzags down the the mountain with hairpin turns until reaching the isolated coastline at Raudisandur. It is a gravel road that is fairly comfortable to drive during summer. However, I'm not sure if it is advisable during the winter season.
This is a unique beach that can be quite long during low tide when at times it is even difficult to see the sea waves in the distance. You can walk the beach for great distances from a couple of carpark areas, the most popular being at the old church. There is a campground at Raudisandur Beach for those interested in making an overnight stay at this unique location. Otherwise, there were no businesses operating during our recent summer visit so bring your own food and drink with you and be ready to head back out on Route 614.
