点评：Beautiful House, But Staff Made Us Feel Unwelcome
We recently visited Stoneywell on a beautiful day and decided to walk from the car park to the house rather than take the minibus – we wanted to enjoy the lovely surroundings. When we arrived at the entrance, we were unexpectedly told off by a member of staff for walking instead of taking the bus. This immediately put a dampener on the visit.
We were then told that we had missed the guided tours for the day, but that we were welcome to explore the house at our leisure – which we were happy to do. The house itself is absolutely stunning, full of fascinating history, and really well presented.
Unfortunately, our experience was soured again when a tour guide stopped us inside and spoke to us as though we were in the wrong for being there. She repeatedly questioned us about where we had come from and made us feel like naughty children, despite us having paid the same admission as everyone else. Her tone was rude and condescending, and it made what should have been a lovely experience quite unpleasant.
We completely understand that tours are structured and need to run smoothly, but there must be a better way to accommodate visitors who are not on a tour without making them feel unwelcome. Stoneywell is a beautiful place and well worth a visit, but sadly the attitude of some staff left us feeling disappointed.
