A wonderful whirlwind with Joost!

点评：My mother and I were with Joost for 3 days (Dec 28-Dec 30). I had asked for a tour with a different spa/lagoon every day and to try to see the northern lights, everything else was a bonus. But I also let the group know that it was me, a relatively mobile 42 year old and my 73 year old mother.
Joost picked us up at the airport and was early for every meeting time we had for the entire trip. We stopped at a hotel by the airport for a nap, as we landed at 5am, and that nap was a great idea.
From there we headed to the sky lagoon- definitely get the 7 steps comfortable ritual, it’s amazing!
Day 2 we did a golden circle tour which was great. Highly recommend the tomato farm restaurant if you can get a reservation, it was a great lunch stop. The secret lagoon was that day and it was super crowded, definitely my least favorite of the lagoons but also Icelands oldest. We tried to see the northern lights that night but the clouds rolled in so we didn’t see them.
Day 3 was a very long and snowy drive to The Cave - a lava cave in the highlands, which was very cool. My mom was nervous about it but she did absolutely fine. On the way back we hit Hvammsilk (I am prob spelling that wrong) which might have been my favorite lagoon.
Joost was absolutely the best, he was so knowledgeable and kind, always jumping out of the car to take a photo or make sure our trip was as comfortable as possible.
Extra side note- I heard that blue lagoon was super touristy and crowded, not great things, but we simply loved it and wished we had more time! Definitely make this a stop in your trip!
Also- definitely bring ski gear (including snow pants) and good gloves/mittens and boots!
