Stunning and picturesque Saut du Gendarme Waterfall

点评：We visited Saut du Gendarme Waterfall as part of an excursion, when we docked in Martinque for 1 day, with our cruise ship.
As we walked to Saut du Gendarme, immediately you are captured by the area’s beautiful views of Morne Rouge rainforest, which is located on the north side of the island.
The rainforest, landscape and scenery of Martinque felt like we were back in Costa Rica, with its unspoiled natural beauty.
We were surprised at the size of the Waterfall, it was taller than we expected 32 feet high, and more impressive with Saut du Gendarme than the waterfall we had seen in Dominica.
The water beneath the waterfall was crystal clear and not as cold as we had anticipated.
We didn’t expect to see small freshwater fish swimming around our feet, when we stood at the bottom of the waterfall pool.
As this is a popular tourist spot, it felt very busy around the waterfall and difficult to take photos. However, although there were lots of tourist when we visited in mid-February, the atmosphere felt very peaceful and relaxed.
I would recommend this waterfall to visit for able walkers but not young children or people with mobility issues as there is a small hike downhill to reach the waterfall.
