点评:We had a great time camping at Winslow Park in Freeport, Maine. The campsites were clean and well-kept, and each fire pit had a built-in grill, which made cooking over the fire simple and fun. Firewood is available for $6 a bundle, and they sell ice right at the gate, which came in handy. If you need to stock up on groceries, there’s a Shaw’s about 10–11 minutes away.
The walking trail was a nice way to explore the area—just keep an eye out for ticks. Luckily, in July, bugs weren’t much of a problem. There’s also a small stone pier that’s a peaceful spot to try fishing. We didn’t catch anything, but it was still worth the visit.
The bathrooms and showers were sufficient, and there was hot water, which was appreciated after a long day outdoors. The shower stalls could be a bit cleaner—there was a slight film on the curtain and stall walls—but it wasn’t a deal-breaker.
All the rangers we met were incredibly friendly and helpful. The sites are a bit close together, so if you’re a light sleeper, bringing earplugs is a good idea. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely stay again.
