点评:What a wonderful way to spend the better part of an afternoon. The ghost town has been stabilized (prevented building from deteriorating further) and has had some restoration done. The town is a cluster of buildings and doesn't really have a main street any more. We arrived after closing time and were able to visit the entire area, but were not able to go into any of the buildings.... Just take photos through the windows.
The town is at the top of a mountain and the drive up is very pretty, but be warned.... part of it crosses open pasture and we had a close call with a Black Angus cow which was largely invisible in the shadows late in the day.
The parking lot is at some distance from the town which you have to walk down to, part of the trail is relatively steep, but still an easy trail. There are a number of building remaining, some of which appear to be largely intact, and others that show the passage of time.
At one time there were about 1000 people living here, but with the end of the mining, the town declined to about 150 people in 1910, then they had a significant fire that burned about 1/2 of the town in 1912. There had been 13 saloons in the town, 4 hotels, 4 stores, and 3 livery stables. Only 1 store an one hotel remains relatively intact, but there are a number of buildings which there purpose wasn't clear.
The ghost town is well worth the time to play there..... Enjoy!
