Rose River Falls的点评
点评：Reviewers mention taking the fire road. We saw no such thing. We almost missed the parking area for the trail as it is marked only by a tiny little sign. We knew it was at mile 49.4 so we passed it once and then did a u-turn. Parking at the overlook as several reviewers mentioned, might be a better thing to do. This was not a paved parking lot, just cars parked under the trees. Once you park there is no sign telling you where to go to find the trailhead. We followed another person across the street to the trail.
From the park website, we printed descriptions of all the trails. This site told us this trail would take 4-5 hours to hike. We were done in 2. After crossing the road, we took the trail which descended rather than taking the one that went left. We knew it was a loop. After about 20 minutes or so, we encountered a beautiful waterfall. Since the website told us the hike would take 4-5 hours, we thought it strange to encounter the waterfall almost immediately. Another hiker told us this was the Dark Hollow Falls, which was spectacular. We took the little path to the top of it, then descended back to our trail. Maybe we missed the Rose River Falls which were described on line as dazzling. The falls we saw after Dark Hollow were pretty, but definitely not as nice as Dark Hollow. The trail was beautiful, but maybe we missed a turn somewhere because the falls we saw were not dazzling at all. We found hiking in this park frustrating as we didn't have any trail maps and the trails are not well labeled at the trail heads. There should have been a map showing us where we were going and that we would cross the Dark Hollow Falls Trail.
