Great destination with a pleasant sting

点评：Oh boy!
Who would have thought that we are going to enjoy cactus farm in a mining town that much, but here we are.
Firstly, the main character - cactuses. From all over the world, carefully planted and signed. Quite a few interesting stories and names. As much as I'm NOT a fan of such kind of plants, I did enjoy my time looking at some of the specimen. Small, funny and HUGE.
Secondly, opals. The cactus sanctuary is owned by opal miner(s), that start with telling you nice stories about cacti and then (if they like you ;) ) offer you a bit more. Some wonderful opals of different shape and colour, that they polish and cut at the "farm". A local jeweler is ready to fit an opal into a "frame" you would prefer.
On top of that, they have jewellery ready to go. With their own opals. Couldn't pass on that. Polite negotiations are welcomed. The prices are much better than in the shops in CBD anyway. While there is no EFTPOS, they are happy to take cash or PayID payment.
Last, but not the least. People. People are very nice and warm. John (owner) was so kind to give us loads of presents and give us a tour in the workshop. My better half got some cacti, kid got some opal fragments (heaps). I got great impression.
Do not skip on this destination.
