点评:Exploring the famous Mathildenhöhe district of Darmstadt, we came upon a place we didn’t plan on visiting because we didn’t know of its existence, the “Vortex Garten” on Prinz Christians Weg. It’s the private garden of Haus Martinus, which is open to the public. So, we picked up a leaflet at the entrance and stepped into the mysterious garden. We walked along a narrow, winding path covered with more than a hundred egg-shaped stepping stones through the dense vegetation. At every turn we discovered mosaics, strangely shaped water features, statuettes, sculptures, and lamps. We aren’t familiar with the philosophy behind the garden designed in 1921 by architect Jan Hubert Pinand combining concepts of numerology, sacred geometry, cosmology, bionics, pantheism and what have you, but we really enjoyed our discovery of this amazing garden.
