点评:Just three kilometres west of Phaistos, at the opposite end of the ridge of hills on the south side of Geropotamos, the Minoan site of Agia Triada is attractively sited towards the foot of the slope, amongst pine trees. The excavated area is managed by the Antiquities Department, but there is no on-site information; fine if one has prepared in advance. There are on-line and printed sources for descriptions and site plan.
It is not a 'palace' site in the conventional site, but it has features seen at the palaces: residential complexes with 'Minoan Hall'- type buildings characterised by interconnecting rooms divided by pier-and-door partitions and light wells; storage magazines with large pithoi, some still in place; administrative/bureaucratic areas evidenced by sealings and Linear A tablets. The site was occupied again in the post-palatial era. It is difficult in places to distinguish between the walls of the different periods, but the long colonnade and associated buildings from the later period are very clear at one end of the site. A delightful bonus is the small medieval church on the site, with wall paintings still visible.
It's easy to get there after visiting Phaistos.
