点评:This was my first visit to the museum at the airfield run by volunteers to keep alive the memories of 106 Squadron which was in operation between 1943 and 1946 from where Lancaster bombers flew 200+ missions. I was greeted on arrival by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer who filled me in on the basic history of the airfield and Squadron. His explanation at the diorama was a very useful starting point to my visit. There is a huge amount of information displayed that explains in detail the history of the airfield with lots of interesting artefacts on display. There is also a C-47 Dakota in a hangar which can be visited with an on-board tour. The FIDO fog dispersal system was new to me and some remnants of this can be seen. There are touching facsimiles of letters written by the airmen who served here during the war. This is a fitting memorial to all those who served here. The visit is made extra special by the superb volunteers who are on hand to impart their knowledge.
I highly recommend a visit here. I spent a couple of hours here but could easily have stayed a lot longer. There is a very nice cafe on site serving drinks and snacks.

我强烈推荐来这里参观。我在这里待了几个小时,但其实可以待更久。现场有一家很棒的咖啡馆,供应饮料和小吃。
